NEW YORK, NY – The man who hurled a snowball at actor and comedian Michael Rapaport in a viral incident five years ago has been arrested, authorities confirmed this week. Rapaport announced the news on social media, crediting online sleuths and newly surfaced footage for helping identify the suspect.
The confrontation, which took place during a winter storm in Manhattan, was captured on camera and spread widely online at the time, showing Rapaport reacting after being struck by a snowball while walking down a city street. For years, the identity of the thrower remained unknown despite the clip circulating across multiple platforms.
In a post shared late Thursday, Rapaport wrote, “Remember when someone hit me with a snowball? The culprit has finally been caught thanks to all of YOU! The internet works if you work it.” He added that the man was tracked down after “found footage” led investigators to the suspect.
Police have not released the man’s name but confirmed he was taken into custody on a misdemeanor charge related to harassment and disorderly conduct. The suspect was issued a desk appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
Rapaport, known for his roles in “True Romance,” “Atypical,” and “The Heat,” has often shared unfiltered commentary on social media, where he maintains a large following. The actor thanked fans who shared information and helped bring the case to a close, saying the arrest marked the end of a five-year search.
