May 25, 2024

MANASSAS, VA – A 15-year-old male student has been charged after being found with a weapon on school grounds. The incident occurred at Unity Reid High School, located at 8820 Rixlew Ln., where the student was discovered with a folding knife by school security during an unrelated investigation.

The School Resource Officer (SRO) was notified of the situation on May 1 at approximately 11:09 AM. After a thorough investigation, it was determined that the knife posed no immediate threat to other students, faculty, or staff. However, the presence of the weapon on school property led to formal petitions against the student.

The case has been referred to Juvenile Court Services for further action and is set to be addressed through the court process at a later date.
