March Madness 2021: USC and Gonzaga Elite 8 Preview

March 30, 2021

The Wiz continues to roll in March Madness, Monday night right here in his column he took Oregon State +8 as they got the cover over Houston 67-61 and closed out the night cap with Baylor as they led wire to wire over Arkansas 81-72.  Tonight the Wiz will look to continue his Winning streak as a trip to the Final Four is on the line.

6) USC vs. (1) Gonzaga

The updated line at playsugarhouse.com has Gonzaga favored by 9 points and the total is 153.5

The odds makers are not showing much respect to the USC Trojans, who have been playing some of the strongest basketball in the Tournament. In their last two games against Oregon and Kansas, the Trojans have hit 63-of-110 shots from the floor (57.27%).  After going on a 12-0 run midway through the first-half on Sunday, USC cruised to an easy 14-point victory over Oregon. USC have shown repeatedly that they can play either at a slower defensive pace-or in a wide-open high scoring game. USC didn’t need to rely on the Mobley brothers for all their scoring against Oregon, as G Isaiah White led the attack with 22 points, and G Tahj Eaddy added 20.

Gonzaga with a record of 29-0, is now going to be tested by the best teams in the college ranks. They’ve made so many wins look too easy against mostly weaker opponents. Few opponents can seem to keep Drew Timme out of from the paint.  In his last two games against Creighton and Oklahoma, Timme has shot 19-of-26 from the floor (73%).  Add Jalen Suggs and Corey Kispert into the mix, and one can’t say enough about just how incredibly strong Gonzaga’s offense is.  This one could be a high-scoring affair.
