Maryland Lottery offers half-price show entry with food bank donation

Timonium, MD – Visitors to the Maryland Home + Garden Show this weekend can receive discounted admission by donating food to families in need, as the Maryland Lottery partners with the Maryland Food Bank for a one-day promotion.

On Saturday, Feb. 28, attendees who bring a non-perishable food item to the show will receive 50 percent off the cost of admission. The Maryland Lottery will collect the donated items and deliver them to the Maryland Food Bank.

According to the Food Bank, its most-needed items include fruit such as cups, canned fruit, raisins and applesauce, along with rice. The organization also accepts toiletries including toothbrushes, soap and shampoo.

The Maryland Lottery will maintain a booth during the Maryland Home + Garden Show, which runs Feb. 28–March 1 and March 6–8 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds. Attendees who are at least 18 years old will be able to purchase lottery tickets and participate in promotional activities at the booth.

Special art reveal set for March 7

In addition to the food drive, the Lottery will host a public unveiling tied to its Maryland Treasures scratch-off ticket.

On March 7 at 11 a.m., four artists selected for the Maryland Treasures Art Contest will reveal their artwork on the Main Stage inside the Cow Palace at the Maryland Home + Garden Show. The contest, held last year, invited local artists to submit original images highlighting Maryland’s history, culture, traditions, or landmarks.

  • Half-price admission offered Feb. 28 with non-perishable food donation
  • Lottery booth open during both weekends of the show
  • Maryland Treasures artwork to be unveiled March 7 at 11 a.m.

The Maryland Lottery said donated items collected during the promotion will directly support the Maryland Food Bank’s distribution efforts across the state.
