COLUMBIA, Md. – A Maryland man who reported his ex-girlfriend missing is now wanted for her murder after police found her dead with stab wounds inside his Columbia apartment, authorities said.
Howard County police identified the suspect as Arjun Sharma, 26, of Columbia. Detectives said Sharma filed a missing person report for his ex-girlfriend, 27-year-old Nikitha Godishala of Ellicott City, on Jan. 2, claiming he last saw her at his apartment on Dec. 31. That same day, investigators later discovered, Sharma boarded a flight to India.
Police executed a search warrant at his apartment in the 10100 block of Twin Rivers Road on Jan. 3 and discovered Godishala deceased. Investigators believe she was killed shortly after 7 p.m. on Dec. 31.
Authorities have obtained a warrant charging Sharma with first- and second-degree murder. Federal law enforcement agencies are assisting Howard County police in locating and arresting him.
