Toms River, NJ – A man identified as a Guatemalan national is being held without bail in the Ocean County Jail after being charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement officers, according to Ocean County jail records.
David Emanuel Choc-Choc, 24, was booked into the Ocean County Jail on July 24 and remains in custody pending court proceedings.
According to jail records, Choc-Choc is charged with four counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, one count of resisting arrest with violence, one count of obstruction of the administration of law, and one count of unlawful possession of a weapon classified as “other.”
Held without bail
The charges include four counts under New Jersey’s aggravated assault statute involving alleged assaults on law enforcement officers, as well as resisting arrest and obstruction.
Authorities have not yet released details describing the circumstances that led to the arrest or identified the agency involved.
Immigration detainer lodged
In addition to the criminal charges, jail records indicate U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged an immigration detainer against Choc-Choc.
Records list Choc-Choc as a citizen and native of Guatemala. He also has a separate municipal court detainer from Manalapan.
