Millsboro Man Arrested for Fifth DUI Offense

May 27, 2024

MILLSBORO, DE—Delaware State Police have arrested 40-year-old Antonio Mancilla-Pertuz of Millsboro for his fifth DUI offense following a traffic stop on the evening of May 24, 2024.

The incident occurred around 8:09 PM when a state trooper observed a Volkswagen Jetta speeding eastbound on Millsboro Highway. The trooper conducted a traffic stop and interacted with the driver, identified as Mancilla-Pertuz. Signs of impairment were evident as the trooper noted a strong odor of alcohol on Mancilla-Pertuz’s breath and observed his impaired behavior.

During the traffic stop, standardized field sobriety tests were administered. The results led to Mancilla-Pertuz’s arrest for driving under the influence. A computer check confirmed that Mancilla-Pertuz had four previous DUI-related convictions and was operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license. An open container of beer was also discovered in his vehicle.

Following the arrest, Mancilla-Pertuz was transported to Troop 4, where he was formally charged and arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3. He has been committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution with a bond set at $6,301 cash.

The Delaware State Police continue to emphasize the dangers of driving under the influence and encourage the public to report suspected impaired drivers to ensure community safety.
