MINNEAPOLIS, MN – A federal law enforcement officer was seriously injured when a protester allegedly bit off part of his finger during a violent confrontation in Minneapolis, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
Officials said the attack occurred as Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) officers were responding to escalating unrest in the city. During the altercation, one of the protesters allegedly assaulted an HSI officer, biting off his finger. The officer was taken to a local hospital, where doctors confirmed he would permanently lose the injured finger.
The incident was confirmed by Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, who wrote, “These rioters attacked our law enforcement officer, and one of them bit off our HSI officer’s finger. He will lose his finger.”
