Murder suspect named Fugitive of the Week as reward offered for tips

Federal and local authorities are searching for a 45-year-old man wanted on a murder charge and say he may be in the Canton, Akron or Cleveland areas

AKRON, Ohio — A man wanted for murder has been named the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force’s Fugitive of the Week as authorities intensify efforts to locate him and are offering a reward for information leading to his arrest.

Larry Grimes, 45, is wanted by the Canton Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service on a murder charge, according to the Akron Police Department.

Authorities described Grimes as a Black male who stands approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 250 pounds.

Investigators said he has been known to frequent the Canton, Akron and Cleveland areas.

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is urging anyone with information about Grimes’ whereabouts to come forward.

Officials said tipsters can remain anonymous, and reward money is available for information that leads to his capture.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at 1-866-4WANTED or submit a tip online through the U.S. Marshals Service fugitive tip portal.

Authorities cautioned the public not to approach Grimes and instead contact law enforcement immediately with any information.

The search remains ongoing.
