National Weather Service updates Jersey Shore snow forecast issues winter weather advisory

TOMS RIVER, N.J. – The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has revised its forecast for the Jersey Shore, warning residents to expect a mix of snow, sleet, and rain beginning Friday afternoon and continuing into Saturday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 3 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday for coastal and inland portions of Monmouth, Ocean, Camden, and Burlington counties.

Forecasters now predict total snow and sleet accumulations between one and three inches, with localized higher amounts possible. Light snow is expected to begin late this afternoon before changing to a mix of snow, sleet, and rain overnight as temperatures hover near the freezing mark.

Daytime highs Friday will reach around 34 degrees, with east winds near 5 mph. Overnight lows are expected to drop to about 28 degrees, and the heaviest wintry mix will occur before 2 a.m. Saturday. Snow may continue intermittently through midmorning Saturday before tapering off, with temperatures climbing to the mid-30s.

The advisory warns that slippery road conditions are likely, especially during the Friday evening commute. Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and check statewide road conditions by calling 511.

By Saturday night, skies will gradually clear with lows near 22 degrees. Another system is expected Sunday, bringing rain and temperatures in the low 40s.The Jersey Shore faces 1–3 inches of snow and sleet Friday night, with hazardous travel possible through Saturday morning.
