Red Flag Forest Fire Warning Issued Across New Jersey

TRENTON, NJ — A critical fire weather warning has been issued across central and southern New Jersey, indicating a heightened risk of wildfires. The National Weather Service in Mount Holly announced a Red Flag Warning effective until 7 PM this evening, citing gusty winds and low relative humidity as key factors elevating the risk.

The warning encompasses a wide area, including Middlesex, Western Monmouth, Eastern Monmouth, Mercer, Salem, Gloucester, Camden, Northwestern Burlington, Ocean, Cumberland, Atlantic, Cape May, and several coastal regions. Conditions such as low fuel moistures, breezy conditions, and low daytime relative humidity values contribute to critical fire weather conditions, potentially making any fires that develop difficult to contain.

Residents are urged to exercise caution.
