TRENTON, NJ – A new proposal in the State Senate aims to revive one of New Jersey’s most recognizable tourism slogans, bringing back the phrase that defined a generation of state pride under former Governor Tom Kean.
Senate Bill 3195, introduced January 28 by Senator Michael L. Testa Jr. (R–Cape May), would officially designate “New Jersey and You – Perfect Together Again” as the new slogan for the Division of Travel and Tourism. The legislation seeks to modernize and reintroduce the original “New Jersey and You: Perfect Together” campaign that gained national attention during the 1980s.
The “Perfect Together” campaign became one of New Jersey’s most successful marketing efforts, featuring Governor Kean in a series of ads that promoted the state’s beaches, industries, and diverse communities. The slogan has since been retired and replaced by several others, including “New Jersey: Come See For Yourself” and “Little State, Lotta Wow.”
Under the new bill, the updated slogan—adding the word “Again”—would serve as the permanent marketing tagline for the Division of Travel and Tourism. Supporters say it’s a nod to nostalgia and a symbol of the state’s resurgence following economic and tourism challenges in recent years.
If enacted, the change would take effect immediately, formally reinstating one of New Jersey’s most iconic messages to travelers nationwide.
