New Jersey man arrested on firearm and DUI charges in Delaware

NEWARK, DE – A New Jersey man was arrested on firearm and DUI charges after a traffic stop in Newark, authorities said.

Sean Dotson, 21, was pulled over by Newark police around 12:48 a.m. on Feb. 8 for multiple traffic violations, officials said. Officers determined he was under the influence of alcohol and took him into custody for DUI.

During a search of the vehicle, police found a loaded handgun under the driver’s seat, leading to additional weapons charges.

Dotson was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, DUI, and multiple traffic offenses. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #11 and given a $4,000 secured bond before being transferred to Howard R. Young Correctional Facility.
