New Jersey Senator Issues Resolution Supporting This Weekend’s Truck Convoy

TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey Senator Ed Durr today announced his support for the New Jersey Freedom Convoy truck rallies taking place in Ocean County and South Jersey this weekend.

Durr, a trucker himself introduced a resolution in support of the truckers.

“The Freedom Convoys that are planned in New Jersey and elsewhere are intended to send Governor Murphy and President Biden the message that the pandemic is over, it’s time to get back to normal life,” said Durr (R-3), a career truck driver. “It’s time to end all of the overbearing mandates that have taken away our rights, choices, and freedoms.”

According to Durr, convoy coordinators in New Jersey and nationwide have been transparent in their planning processes and have been working with local authorities to ensure the safety of all participants.

Peaceful assemblies, such as those planned as part of the convoys, are protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. In addition to supporting the planned convoys, the resolution, SR-68, urges participants to participate peacefully and with deference to law enforcement officers tasked with ensuring the safety of the general public, Durr said in a statement today.

“People are fed up with power-hungry leaders who are clinging to emergency powers that should have been given up long ago,” added Durr. “The Freedom Convoys are how truckers will send the message to Trenton and Washington to lift mask and vaccine mandates and end the unnecessary pandemic theater.”
