New Jersey State Parks hiring more than 800 seasonal workers for summer 2026

TRENTON, N.J. – The New Jersey State Park Service has opened applications for over 800 seasonal jobs for the upcoming summer season, offering positions at parks, forests, and recreation areas across the state.

Officials said the seasonal employment period runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, with opportunities available from High Point State Park in Sussex County to Cape May Point State Park at the southern tip of the state.

Open positions include lifeguards, maintenance staff, visitor service assistants, naturalists, history educators, and office personnel. Most roles start at $16.50 per hour, while lifeguards can earn between $19 and $20 per hour depending on assignment. Paid training and certification are provided for lifeguard candidates.

The State Park Service noted that prior experience is not required for most positions but that weekend and holiday availability is essential during the busy summer months.

New Jersey State Parks are seeking more than 800 seasonal employees statewide for summer roles ranging from lifeguards to maintenance and visitor services.
