Jackson, NJ – Students at Elms Elementary School now have a new place to dig into science and nature after the grand opening of the school’s Outdoor Environmental Learning Center and Garden. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official launch of the hands-on space designed to connect children with the environment.
The project was made possible through a grant from Sustainable New Jersey and led by Mrs. Brenner, a recipient of the prestigious New Jersey Milken Teacher Award. Brenner, along with Elms staff and the school’s “Green Team,” worked to bring the vision to life, transforming the grounds into a learning hub where students can explore sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Jackson Township Councilman Giuseppe Palmeri attended the event, calling the new center a “truly remarkable space for students to explore, learn, and grow,” while offering congratulations to Brenner and the team for their efforts.
The Outdoor Environmental Learning Center and Garden will provide students with opportunities to learn about ecosystems, gardening, and conservation through direct experience.
