New York City Cop Arrested for Strangulation and Assault

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — An off-duty NYPD officer was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Bushwick and charged with multiple offenses, including assault and strangulation, police said.

At approximately 12:50 p.m., Gero Eaton, 35, was taken into custody within the confines of the 83rd Precinct. Eaton is currently employed as a police officer with the New York City Police Department.

He was charged with strangulation, two counts of criminal mischief, and three counts of assault.

The NYPD confirmed the arrest and stated that the matter is under internal review.
