Albany, NY – The New York State Police announced increased patrols and statewide readiness efforts as Governor Kathy Hochul declared a State of Emergency ahead of an intense winter storm forecasted to bring heavy snow and dangerous cold through Monday.
Authorities said the storm could drop 12 to 18 inches of snow across much of the state, with snowfall rates potentially exceeding two inches per hour. Reduced visibility, slick roads, and subzero wind chills are expected to create hazardous travel conditions.
Troopers have staged specialized equipment and personnel across New York to respond to emergencies and assist stranded motorists. Additional patrols will be deployed as conditions worsen.
