Newark Man Charged After Pointing Gun at Woman on West Main Street

NEWARK, DE—Newark Police have charged Mykai Thomas, a 22-year-old Newark resident, with aggravated menacing and related offenses following an incident on Tuesday night. Authorities responded to a call around 11:03 PM at the 100-block of West Main Street where a male reportedly pointed a firearm at a female before fleeing in a vehicle.

The investigation revealed that the female victim was walking on West Main Street when Thomas allegedly exited his vehicle, masked, and pointed what appeared to be a firearm at her.

The victim screamed and escaped the scene, while Thomas drove away.

Detectives utilized area surveillance cameras to swiftly identify Thomas’ vehicle. On Thursday, they executed a search warrant on his vehicle and discovered a firearm.
