Newark police search for missing 61 year old woman last seen on Oxford Street
NEWARK, NJ — A Newark street went quiet with questions still hanging in the air after Marlene Lewter, 61, was reported missing earlier this month, and city officials are now asking the public to help bring her home.
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. said Lewter was reported missing on Thursday, January 8. She was last seen in the 20 block of Oxford Street, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety.
Lewter has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, officials said. Police described her as a Black woman who is 5 foot 6, weighs about 150 pounds, and has brown eyes and brown hair.
She was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants with a rip at the knee, cheetah print sneakers, and carrying a brown purse, officials said.
Anyone with information about Lewter’s whereabouts is asked to call the Newark Police Division 24 hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Officials said anonymous tips are kept confidential and may be eligible for a reward.
