NEW YORK — Police are searching for a gunman wanted in connection with a deadly shooting that took place ;last Sunday evening in the Belmont section of the Bronx.

According to the New York City Police Department, the incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. in front of 374 East 188th Street, within the boundaries of the 46th Precinct. A 57-year-old man was walking along the street when he was approached by an unidentified individual who fired several rounds, striking the victim in the head.

Authorities said the suspect fled the scene on foot heading eastbound on East 188th Street. He remains at large. No arrests have been made and no firearm has been recovered.

Emergency medical personnel responded and transported the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. He later died from his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The NYPD has released surveillance footage of the suspect and is asking the public for help in identifying him.
