Ocean County 4th Grader makes National Elite Basketball Raking.

February 11, 2016

Julian Granville a 4th grader who is one of the hardest working basketball players you will ever meet. He has a work ethic that will shame some adults, working out a few hours everyday. He recently attended the I’m Possible Skillcase at Hoop Group. He was selected out of hundreds of player in attendance and was featured on BBallSpotlight.com Home of the Future Phenoms. This was not the first time Julian was selected out of hundreds of kids. Last year, at West Cester, PA Last year he was the youngest All-Star selected at Phenom Regional Camp. His success is due to his pure determination and his refusal to lose.
His humble beginnings begun when he was 8 years old he was chosen for his local Travel team in Jackson. He was not a star player then, no he wasn’t. Julian first year he was lucky to come off the bench and play a few minutes. When the Travel season was over he wanted to play AAU. He tried out and did not make the team.He was put on a lower “ level “B” team that helped him develop but was never satisfied not making the “A” team. I believe this is what added fuel to his internal fire.
His first turning point came when he met Coach Lammar Young from Young World Ballers. He seen the fire in Julian and invited him to play on his AAU Team the Hilltoppers after rigorous training. This was not just any team this team, they won the state championship, and USBA National Championship the year before. He worked with him countless hours at his training facility in Bloomfield, NJ. He equipped Julian with the tools he needed to compete at a high level. He gave Julian a saying that he now lives by, “Hardwork beats talent when talent fails to work hard.”
Since then Julian still works with Coach Lammar Young and also had the honor to work with some of the most sought after NBA Skills trainers. With names like LeBron James, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, Kyrie Irving, Karl Anthony Towns. Julian had the pleasure to work with many great Skill trainers some are Micah Lancaster, Ganon Baker, Pat the Roc, DJ Sackman, Lammar Washington, Marcus Hodges, and Bryce Stanhope. His hardwork continues to pay off when he was recently ranked 45 in the nations among the top elite players in the class 2024 for basketball.
