Ocean Township officials urge caution as freezing temperatures follow major snowfall

OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ – Township officials say road conditions are steadily improving after crews spent the day plowing and salting streets, but dropping temperatures overnight are expected to create icy hazards for drivers and pedestrians.

Police Chief Michal Rogalski said Sunday evening that the township’s Department of Public Works crews, led by Superintendent Dan Kehoe, are continuing their snow removal efforts with another round of plowing and salt application planned through the night. The improved weather has allowed plows to reach the pavement for the first time since the storm began, speeding up cleanup operations.

Chief Rogalski thanked residents who complied with requests to move vehicles off the streets, saying their cooperation has been key to clearing neighborhood roads efficiently. He also noted that Fire and EMS teams remain fully staffed and ready to respond to any emergencies as conditions remain hazardous.

  • Public Works crews continue plowing and salting throughout Ocean Township.
  • Fire and EMS units are fully operational amid freezing weather.
  • Residents are urged to limit travel and watch for icy road conditions.

Officials warned that as temperatures drop overnight, refreezing could make local roads slick and dangerous. Residents are encouraged to stay indoors when possible, check on neighbors, and use caution if travel cannot be avoided. Updates from Ocean Township officials will continue as cleanup efforts progress.
