Ohio man wins $100K after trusting his scratch-off gut

AMHERST, OH — A lucky stop at his regular lottery retailer paid off big for an Amherst man who won $100,000 on the Ohio Lottery’s $300,000,000 Extreme Cash scratch-off game.

The winner purchased the ticket at Amherst Citgo, located at 109 Cleveland Avenue. He had bought ticket number seven earlier and returned days later to find number eight still available — a decision that landed him the six-figure win.

After 28 percent in state and federal taxes, the winner will receive $72,000.

He’s no stranger to the Extreme Cash game, having won $10,000 and multiple $1,000 prizes last year. He says Amherst Citgo is his go-to spot for lottery play.

The $30 scratch-off game offers a top prize of $200,000 a year for 25 years. As of Tuesday, six top prizes remain.

The winner plans to share much of his prize with family while setting aside some for himself.
