Shooting Incident Under Investigation in Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA — On Thursday, at 11:38 PM, officers from the 19th District responded to a report of a person with a gun on the 5400 block of Wyalusing Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 58 fired cartridge casings in the middle of the block.

Shortly after the discovery, Presbyterian Medical Center notified the police of a shooting victim who had arrived by private vehicle. The 23-year-old female victim sustained a gunshot wound to her right arm and is in stable condition.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had left her house to walk to a 24-hour store. While crossing the street, she heard several gunshots and began to run but fell. She reached a nearby corner bar where she received assistance and was then transported to the hospital.

No arrests have been made, and the motive remains unknown. The Shooting Investigation Group is leading the ongoing investigation.
