Pedestrian Injured in October Crash in Rockville Has Died, Police Report

GAITHERSBURG, Md. — The Montgomery County Department of Police is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Rockville on October 30, after a pedestrian who was struck on Veirs Mill Road later died from his injuries.

At approximately 5:24 a.m. on October 30, 28-year-old Luis Rios Chirinos of Gaithersburg was attempting to cross Veirs Mill Road from the median when he was hit by a black Lexus GS. The driver remained at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators, according to police.

Emergency responders from Montgomery County Police and Fire Rescue were dispatched to the scene. Chirinos was transported to an area hospital, where he remained in critical condition until he succumbed to his injuries on November 11.

The Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is leading the investigation and has asked for assistance from the public. Authorities are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has relevant information to contact the CRU at (240) 773-6620.

The investigation is ongoing as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
