Bowie, MD – A Philadelphia man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly striking two Maryland State Troopers with a vehicle during illegal car rally events in Prince George’s County, prompting a multi-agency investigation involving state and federal law enforcement.

Isaiah Vega, 19, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has been charged with first- and second-degree assault and assault on a law enforcement officer following consultation with the Prince George’s County Office of the State’s Attorney. Vega is currently being held without bond in Prince George’s County after his arrest in connection with the November incidents.

Alleged assaults during traffic stops

The case stems from events on November 16, 2025, when investigators with the Maryland Car Rally Task Force observed a black Chrysler 300 without registration plates at the intersection of MD 704 and Glenarden Parkway in Glenarden. The driver, described as wearing a black mask, drew the attention of law enforcement due to suspected involvement in illegal car rally activity.

When troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver allegedly fled the scene, striking a Maryland State Trooper who was outside his patrol vehicle. The trooper was not injured, and an alert for the vehicle was immediately broadcast to other units.

A short time later, the same vehicle was located at a gas station along Crain Highway in Bowie, where investigators again attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

Second trooper struck, multi-state search follows

During the second encounter, authorities allege the driver struck another Maryland State Trooper who was outside of his vehicle before fleeing once again. The injured trooper was transported to a local hospital for treatment and later released.

Investigators with the Maryland Car Rally Task Force launched a broader investigation that included witness interviews and coordination with law enforcement agencies across multiple states. Officials said collaboration with the U.S. Marshals Service, Virginia State Police, and Pennsylvania State Police was critical in identifying the suspect.
