Planned Wildwood Pop-Up Boardwalk Party Thwarted, Philadelphia Resident Arrested

Wildwood police say a Philadelphia resident faces a criminal charge after allegedly organizing and promoting an unauthorized beach and Boardwalk gathering through social media.

Wildwood, NJ – The Wildwood Police Department has charged a Philadelphia man after detectives identified him as the alleged organizer of an unsanctioned beach and Boardwalk event that authorities said could have drawn a large crowd and disrupted public safety. The investigation began after officers discovered a social media post advertising a “Beach/Boardwalk Party, Video Shoot.”

According to the department, members of the Detective Division identified the post on Tuesday while monitoring publicly available social media for unauthorized “pop-up” events. Police said the promotion quickly gained significant attention online and “presented the potential for a large, unauthorized gathering that could disrupt public safety, and negatively affect residents, visitors, and local businesses.”

Investigation identified event promoter

Detectives identified Soudyce Diallo, a Philadelphia resident, as the individual responsible for creating and promoting the online event, according to police. Authorities said a cease-and-desist notice was issued directing Diallo to cancel the event and remove the promotional posts from social media.

The department also filed a criminal complaint charging Diallo under N.J.S.A. 2C:33-2(d), Disturbance at a Public Gathering, based on evidence uncovered during the investigation.

Police warn against future pop-up events

The Wildwood Police Department said it will continue monitoring online activity tied to unauthorized gatherings and warned that organizers, promoters, and participants could face enforcement under New Jersey law and municipal ordinances.

“This should act as a warning for anyone intending to come to Wildwood and unlawfully take over our beaches, Boardwalk, streets, or other public spaces,” the department said. “These activities will be met with swift and appropriate enforcement.”

Police also emphasized their commitment to maintaining public safety, stating, “The Wildwood Police Department is committed to protecting the safety and quality of life of the city’s residents, businesses, and visitors.”

The criminal charge was filed following a finding of probable cause in accordance with New Jersey Attorney General Criminal Justice Policies and Directives. As with all criminal cases, Diallo is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
