ELLICOTT CITY, Md. – A woman was found dead Tuesday afternoon after being stabbed inside her Ellicott City apartment, and police say the attack was not random.

Officers responded around 3:06 p.m. to the 3100 block of West Springs Drive, where they discovered an adult female suffering from stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Howard County police said there were no signs of forced entry, and investigators believe the victim was targeted. Detectives quickly identified and detained a person known to the victim in connection with the killing, though no charges have been filed.
