Police Investigate Church Burglary in Chevy Chase

Chevy Chase, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 2nd District Investigative Section are investigating a burglary at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the 5400 block of Western Avenue in Chevy Chase that occurred on Tuesday. Officials have released a photo of the male suspect and are seeking the public’s help in identifying him.

Authorities responded to the location for the burglary report at around 11:00 a.m. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the suspect unlawfully entered the church, cut sections of copper piping, and encountered a construction crew. A construction worker filmed the suspect on his cell phone as the culprit fled with the stolen items.

Detectives are seeking the suspect, described as a Hispanic male in his fifties with a trimmed beard, medium build, white construction safety helmet, reflective yellow/orange vest, purple T-shirt, gray gloves, and black backpack.
