The Jackson Police Department is currently investigating a serious motor vehicle crash which occurred on Toms River Road (Rt. 571).

On Sunday, August 5, 2018 at 5:47 pm, Jackson Police Officers and emergency personnel responded to a serious motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Toms River Road (Rt. 571) and Whitecomb Street. Responding officers discovered that the crash involved a motorcycle and a pickup truck.

The vehicles/drivers involved were identified as:
Vehicle #1: 2011 Harley Davidson ridden by Kenneth Blanchet, age 36, of Allentown.
Vehicle #2: 2005 Dodge Ram operated by Michael Estelle, age 21, of Jackson.

Preliminary Investigation shows that vehicle #1 (Kenneth Blanchet) was traveling south on Toms River Road approaching Whitecomb Street when he lost control of his motorcycle, crossed the center line into the north bound lane then back to the south bound lane and struck the driver side of vehicle #2 (Estelle) which was stopped waiting to turn onto Whitecomb Street.

The driver of vehicle #1 (Kenneth Blanchet), was flown by medevac helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for his injuries.

The driver of vehicle #2 (Michael Estelle), checked at the scene and refused further medical attention.

In addition to JPD officers, Quality First Aid and Monoc Paramedics responded to the scene.

The crash is under investigation by P.O. Jeffery Henba of the Jackson Township Police Dept. Traffic Safety Bureau, overseen by Sgt, Richard Bosley of the Traffic Bureau.
