TUCKERTON, N.J. – After nearly three weeks of searching, recovery teams have found the body of a 19-year-old man who was reported to have gone over the Causeway Bridge shortly before Thanksgiving.
According to officials, witnesses saw the man enter the water around 10 p.m. on November 25, prompting an extensive search that involved several law enforcement and rescue agencies.
The Stafford Township Police Department issued the following statement:
Stafford Township, NJ – The Stafford Township Police Department confirms the recovery of a 19-year-old male who had been reported missing following an incident at the Manahawkin Bridge on November 25, 2025.
Following an extensive multi-agency search effort spanning approximately three weeks, the individual was located during the evening hours of December 17, 2025, in the waters near the Manahawkin Bridge. The New Jersey State Police Marine Services Bureau located the individual using sonar equipment, and the West Tuckerton Fire Department Dive Team subsequently recovered the body approximately 200 meters north of the bridge.
Family members have been notified. The individual was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where an autopsy will be conducted. The incident remains under investigation, and no further details are being released at this time.

New Jersey State Police used sonar technology to locate the body roughly 200 meters from the bridge. Members of the West Tuckerton Fire Department Dive Team then recovered the remains.
The man was taken to Community Medical Center for an autopsy, which will determine the cause of death. His identity has not yet been released pending verification and notification of family.
