Wildwood Crest, NJ – Authorities in Cape May County say the deaths of a man and woman discovered inside a Wildwood Crest home earlier this week appear to be the result of a murder-suicide.
Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Wildwood Crest Police Chief Robert Lloyd confirmed that the deceased have been identified as Donald Miller, 79, and Marion Miller, 79, both residents of Wildwood Crest. Police were called to a home on the 300 block of East Atlanta Avenue on January 7, where both individuals were found dead.
According to investigators, preliminary findings from the Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office indicate Marion Miller died from a single gunshot wound, while Donald Miller’s death was caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Detectives from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Wildwood Crest Police Department continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities said additional witness interviews, forensic analysis, and autopsy results are ongoing.
Officials stated there is no threat to the public, and no further information will be released until the investigation concludes or as circumstances require. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit or the Wildwood Crest Police Department.
