MANHATTAN, NY – The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect wanted for a hate crime after anti-Semitic graffiti was discovered on a wall and inside a northbound “1” subway train car near Broadway and West 168th Street on Wednesday afternoon, January 7.
According to investigators, the incident occurred around 4:42 p.m. within the 33rd Precinct and Transit District 3. Police said an unidentified individual used a marker to write anti-Semitic symbols and phrases both inside the train and on nearby station property before fleeing the area.
The department’s Hate Crimes Task Force is leading the investigation and is working with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to review surveillance footage from the station and surrounding areas.
