Police searching for gunman after New Years Day shooting in Greenbelt neighborhood

GREENBELT, Md. – Police are investigating a New Year’s Day shooting that left a bullet lodged in a resident’s living room wall after gunfire erupted near a Greenbelt apartment complex, officials said.

According to the Greenbelt City Police Department, the incident occurred early on January 1 when a resident reported hearing several gunshots behind their home. Upon checking, the homeowner discovered a bullet had penetrated their wall and stopped inside the living room. No injuries were reported.

Detectives determined the shots came from the parking lot area near 120 Westway. Officers canvassed the area but did not locate a suspect or weapon. Police are continuing to investigate and are urging anyone with information to contact the Greenbelt Police Department at 301-474-7200.
