Police seek suspect in robbery of elderly woman on Pine Street in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Authorities are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect wanted for robbing an 81-year-old woman in the city’s 9th District late last month.

The incident occurred around 11:25 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, on the 1900 block of Pine Street. According to police, the suspect, described as a Black female riding a bicycle, approached the victim from behind, pushed her, and stole her bag, causing the woman to fall and suffer a minor contusion on her forehead.

After taking $100 from the victim’s purse, the suspect reportedly dropped the bag and fled the scene.

Surveillance video released by the Philadelphia Police Department shows the suspect in the area at the time of the incident. The footage, which has no audio, is available on the department’s YouTube channel and website.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Central Detective Division at 215-686-3093 or 3094. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by phone or through an online form on the police department’s website.

Police caution the public not to approach the suspect if seen and to contact 911 immediately.
