Forensic illustration released after database searches yield no identity

MYRTLE BEACH, SC — A person found dead in Myrtle Beach remains unidentified despite searches of local, state and federal databases, prompting police to release a forensic illustration Tuesday in hopes that someone will recognize the individual and provide investigators with a name.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department said the individual was found within city limits without identification, a cellphone or other belongings that could establish an identity.

Investigators also found no identifying tattoos, according to the department.

Police did not disclose where or when the person was found or provide information concerning the circumstances of the death in Tuesday’s public appeal.

Investigators have searched multiple law enforcement databases without determining the person’s identity.

With those efforts unsuccessful, the department released a forensic postmortem illustration depicting how the individual may have appeared.

Police cautioned that the illustration is a representation rather than an exact likeness and that the person’s actual appearance may have differed.

The department is now asking anyone who recognizes the individual or has information that could help establish an identity to contact investigators.

Police said even limited information could help investigators identify the deceased person and potentially provide answers to people searching for them.
