August 26, 2024

VENTNOR, NJ — A man sustained injuries in a possible shark bite incident at Surrey Avenue Beach in Ventnor, New Jersey, on Sunday morning. The event occurred around 9:30 a.m., according to local beach patrol.

Ventnor City Beach Patrol reported that the man was injured while in the water, potentially from a shark bite to his hand. However, authorities have not yet confirmed the presence of a shark at the time of the incident.

The victim was promptly transported to a hospital for treatment and is expected to recover fully.

In response to the incident, beach authorities have temporarily restricted water access, allowing beachgoers to enter only up to their knees until local officials make further assessments.
