Urraro Oil sells six-figure winner with $975 million jackpot still on the table
FAIRVIEW, PA – Powerball lightning struck Erie County Monday night when a ticket sold at Urraro Oil Company landed a $150,000 prize, putting a six-figure win in Fairview while the game’s jackpot climbed to a staggering $975 million.
The Pennsylvania Lottery announced the winning ticket Tuesday.
Urraro Oil Company at 6355 Sterrettania Road in Fairview sold the $150,000 ticket for Monday’s drawing.
The ticket matched four of the five white balls plus the red Powerball.
The winning white numbers were 6, 37, 54, 55 and 64. The Powerball was 10.
Matching that combination normally produces a $50,000 prize.
One detail made this ticket worth three times more.
The player added the $1 Power Play option.
Monday’s Power Play multiplier was 3X, boosting the ticket from $50,000 to $150,000 before applicable withholding.
Urraro Oil Company will receive a $500 retailer bonus for selling the winning ticket.
The Pennsylvania Lottery does not know who holds the ticket until a prize claim is submitted and validated.
The ticket holder has one year from the Aug. 10 drawing to claim the winnings.
Monday proved to be a busy night for Pennsylvania Powerball players.
More than 102,200 other tickets sold in the state won prizes of varying amounts. That included more than 23,400 winning tickets purchased with Power Play and more than 12,700 purchased with Double Play.
The night’s biggest prize remained untouched.
Nobody hit the Powerball jackpot, sending the estimated grand prize to $975 million for Wednesday night’s drawing.
The jackpot carries an estimated cash value of $422.3 million and currently ranks eighth among the largest Powerball jackpots on record.
Wednesday will mark the 44th consecutive drawing in the current jackpot run.
Powerball’s jackpot was last won May 2, when tickets purchased in Florida and Texas split a $20 million prize.
