Daremiah Banks found fatally shot during early-morning violence
WASHINGTON, DC – An 18-year-old woman was found shot on K Street in Southeast DC before sunrise Sunday, with first responders pronouncing her dead at the scene and detectives now searching for whoever was responsible for the killing.
The victim was identified Monday by DC Police as Daremiah Banks of Northwest DC.
The shooting was reported at approximately 5:26 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of K Street SE.
First District officers responding to the shooting call found Banks suffering from a gunshot wound.
DC Fire and EMS personnel were called to the scene.
Banks showed no signs consistent with life and was pronounced dead, according to police.
Police have not released information concerning what may have led to the shooting.
No arrest was announced in the department’s Monday update, and police did not provide a description of a possible suspect.
Investigators also have not disclosed whether Banks was shot inside or outside, or whether she knew the person responsible.
The case remains under investigation.
DC Police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for a homicide in the District.
