QUEENS, NY — A Queens woman has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to the death of a 55-year-old man found dead in an apartment earlier this week, the NYPD confirmed.

Sandra Coto Navarro, 48, was taken into custody on Thursday at 9:40 a.m. and faces charges of second-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Officers from the 107th Precinct responded to a 911 call around 5 p.m. on Tuesday at 137-17 70 Avenue, where they discovered Jose Portillo, 55, unconscious and unresponsive. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death as the investigation continues.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances leading to Portillo’s death or Navarro’s alleged involvement.
