Road rage, one dead, two hurt in separate philly shootings hours apart — Philadelphia Police

PHILADELPHIA, PA — One man is dead, another is injured, and a third remains hospitalized after two separate shootings — including a road rage incident — unfolded on Philadelphia streets Thursday morning and afternoon.

The first incident occurred around 10:23 a.m., when a dispute over a lane change escalated into gunfire. A driver allegedly pulled a black handgun and fired toward another vehicle carrying a man, his girlfriend, and two children. No injuries were reported in the shooting, but the suspect fled the scene and struck a pedestrian at Tulip and Huntington Streets.

The pedestrian was taken to Temple Hospital in stable condition. Officers later located and stopped the suspect’s vehicle in the 2600 block of Memphis Street. A loaded black handgun with four live rounds was recovered, and the suspect was positively identified by the complainant. East Detectives are handling the ongoing investigation.

Less than three hours later, at 12:52 p.m., police responded to a double shooting on the highway in the 38XX block of Folsom Street in the city’s 16th District. One male victim was rushed to Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center by officers and was pronounced dead at 1:01 p.m.

A second male victim from the same shooting arrived at the hospital by private vehicle and is listed in stable condition. Authorities have not made any arrests or recovered any weapons from the scene.

Homicide and East Detectives Units Investigating

Police confirmed the homicide investigation remains active, with the Homicide Unit overseeing the Folsom Street shooting and East Detectives continuing their inquiry into the road rage-related firearm discharge and vehicle strike.

Both scenes have been secured by authorities as investigators work to determine motives and identify any additional suspects.
