Robbery near Brentwood Road sends DC cops hunting scooter-riding suspect

Police say the man was last seen operating an orange and black Yamaha scooter in Northeast DC

WASHINGTON, DC – A robbery near Brentwood Road in Northeast DC triggered a police search Sunday morning for a man with long dreadlocks who was reportedly operating a distinctive orange and black Yamaha scooter.

The Metropolitan Police Department issued an alert at approximately 10:31 a.m. concerning the robbery in the 900 block of Brentwood Road NE.

Police described the person they were seeking as a Black male with long dreadlocks.

He was reportedly wearing a black wave cap, eyeglasses, a black sleeveless top, blue shorts and red and black foam sneakers.

The suspect was operating an orange and black Yamaha scooter, according to the police alert.

The initial advisory did not provide information about the victim, what was taken or whether a weapon was involved.

Police also did not disclose the circumstances leading up to the robbery.

No arrest was announced in the initial alert.

Anyone who sees the suspect should not approach him and should call 911. Anyone with information about the robbery can contact DC Police at 202-727-9099 or submit an anonymous text tip to 50411.
