Rockville man wins $50,000 on lottery scratch-off, plans to buy home

January 10, 2025

ROCKVILLE, Md. – A Rockville man is celebrating a $50,000 win after claiming the first second-tier prize on the Maryland Lottery’s MONOPOLY X200 scratch-off game.

The Montgomery County resident, a maintenance worker, purchased the lucky ticket at Hilltop Wine & Spirits in Bowie. After scratching off the play area, he matched the number 11 and revealed the $50,000 prize beneath it.

“I was happy that I finally won. I have been playing for a long time,” the winner said, smiling.

He plans to use his winnings toward a down payment on a house, saying the prize will significantly boost his savings.

Hilltop Wine & Spirits, located at 6856 Race Track Road, will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Launched in November 2024, the MONOPOLY X200 game still has all four $2 million top prizes unclaimed, along with five remaining $50,000 prizes.

The lucky winner hopes this isn’t his last big win, saying, “I want to come back after I win the big one.”
