CHERRY HILL, N.J. — Roy Rogers Restaurants has officially opened its third New Jersey location, continuing its comeback in the Garden State with a new outpost in Cherry Hill.

The classic American fast-food chain, known for its roast beef sandwiches, fried chicken, and burgers, was once a familiar name across New Jersey. After years of absence, the brand has been making a steady return, beginning with new restaurants in Bayville and Brick.

“Thank you Cherry Hill for the best welcome to the community,” the company posted on social media following the grand opening. “We appreciate all of the loyal fans who came out to celebrate and enjoyed some delicious beef, burgers and chicken!”

Roy Rogers, originally launched by Marriott Corporation in 1968 and named after the famed cowboy entertainer, experienced a rapid rise in the 1970s and 1980s, with hundreds of locations across the East Coast. New Jersey had dozens of Roy Rogers restaurants during the brand’s peak years, many of them along the New Jersey Turnpike and in shopping centers.

However, after a series of ownership changes and franchise conversions in the 1990s, the chain’s presence in New Jersey declined sharply. For several years, only a few highway rest stop locations remained.

The company began rebuilding its footprint in New Jersey in 2023, adding to its last loca tion in Bayville and then in opening a new store in Brick. The Cherry Hill restaurant marks the third full-service Roy Rogers in the state as part of an ongoing expansion effort.

Executives at Roy Rogers have said they plan to open additional locations throughout New Jersey, citing strong brand recognition and customer loyalty in the region.

The Cherry Hill opening drew large crowds and longtime fans eager to revisit a brand that had become a nostalgic favorite.
