School Bus Involved in Crash With Medical Transport Vehicle in South Jersey

MEDFORD, NJ — A collision between a school bus and a medical transport van left both drivers injured early Wednesday morning in Medford, authorities reported.

The incident occurred at 6:23 a.m. on Hartford Road, when the two vehicles crashed, causing the van to overturn, according to Medford police. The van’s driver sustained back and leg injuries and was airlifted to Cooper Trauma Center for treatment. Meanwhile, the school bus driver, who suffered an arm injury, was transported to Virtua Mount Holly Hospital.

Police confirmed that neither vehicle was carrying passengers at the time of the accident.

Investigators noted that the van was traveling southbound on Hartford Road, while the school bus was heading north. The collision took place in the 200 block of the roadway, forcing the van off the street and onto its side, officials said.

Medford Police Lt. Jeff Samalonis revealed that the bus involved in the crash was contracted to a local high school. Further details about the cause of the accident were not immediately available as the investigation continues.
