HARRISBURG, PA — Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced charges against a 19-year-old Schuylkill County man accused of sexually abusing a 9-month-old child and recording the act on his cellphone.
Jalvi DeJesus Nunez, of Shenandoah, was arrested Thursday and charged with multiple offenses, including sexual abuse of children, possession of sexual abuse material, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and indecent assault. His bail was set at $100,000.
The investigation began earlier this month when Shenandoah Police received reports from two witnesses who said they had seen a video showing Nunez engaged in lewd acts with an infant. The department contacted the Office of Attorney General’s Child Predator Section, which quickly secured a search warrant, obtained the recording, and interviewed Nunez.
“This is heinous, unfathomable conduct that has no place in civilized society,” said Attorney General Sunday. “We will work to hold this defendant fully accountable for truly vile behavior.”
The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Mary Phillips. All charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
