Second Person Jumps to Death from Bayonne Bridge

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Two tragic incidents occurred at the Bayonne Bridge within less than 24 hours, with one individual confirmed dead and another missing. Early Monday morning, a person died after jumping from the bridge, as reported by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

The incident occurred around 4 a.m., with the individual reportedly leaving their vehicle and jumping from the span while heading from New Jersey into Staten Island.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) recovered the body, and the individual was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. In response to the incident, the Port Authority’s Bayonne Bridge social media account alerted motorists of a lane closure due to police activity shortly after the emergency call.

This incident followed another report from Sunday afternoon, where a man also leapt from the bridge.

Authorities have stated that his body has not yet been recovered.
