Senior dog adopted after owner’s death finds new home with canine companions

FORKED RIVER, N.J. — A senior dog named Chops has found a new family after being taken in by the Associated Humane Popcorn Park Shelter following the death of his previous owner.

Chops was recently adopted and is now thriving in a home with other dogs, according to a statement released by the shelter. Staff said he is adjusting well and appears to be bonding quickly with his new canine siblings.

“Chops has officially been adopted and is thriving in his new home — complete with some awesome doggy siblings to hang with!” the shelter announced in a social media post.

The shelter expressed appreciation to the adopting family for giving Chops a second chance after his sudden displacement.

Chops’ arrival at the shelter had followed the loss of his longtime owner, a situation that often leaves older pets at risk of being overlooked for adoption.

The Associated Humane Popcorn Park Shelter continues to place animals in permanent homes across Ocean County and beyond.
