TOMS RIVER, N.J. — Toms River Mayor Dan Rodrick and the township’s Recreation Department will host a screening of Surf’s Up on Monday, July 22, as part of the Neighborhood Movie Night in the Park series.

The family-friendly event begins at 7 p.m. on the beach at 3rd Avenue in Ortley Beach. The animated film will be shown on a Jumbotron screen designed for daylight visibility to accommodate younger audiences before bedtime.

Event organizers advise attendees to bring blankets and chairs, but pets should be left at home. Kona Ice of Toms River will be on-site offering refreshments during the film.

“Showtime is at 7 p.m. on a Jumbotron screen that is clearly viewable during daylight hours and holding the movie at 7 p.m. allows all family members to come out and enjoy the movie before their bedtime!!” the township said in a statement.

The Surf’s Up screening features characters Cody and friends competing in the Big Z Memorial Surf Off, fitting for the beachside venue.

Details about upcoming Recreation and Parks events are available through the Toms River Township Government website and social media.
